Monday Meals

Last week we did pretty well sticking to the meal plan…we only subbed another night of grilling for the bacon, egg and cheese burritos.  AND, the best part was I only went to the grocery store one time….ONE TIME!  That is unheard of around here.  I’m hoping to do the same for this week.

Monday:  Tim is out of town for dinner, so I’ll do turkey sandwiches or breakfast for dinner.

Tuesday:  Homemade taco pizza

Wednesday:  Slow Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/slow-cooker-chicken-tortilla-soup/detail.aspx

Thursday:  Mom’s lasagna.  I am making this to take to a friend who just had a baby, so I’ll just make double.  I have taken this lasagna to several friends who have had babies in the last year, and its always a hit.  Almost everyone has asked me for the recipe.  Thanks, Mom!

Friday:  Girls night out for me with girls from church.  Tim is on his own with leftovers or winging it.

Saturday: Eating or ordering out.

Sunday:  Chicken Noodle Casserole:  http://sistersstuff.blogspot.com/2009/08/hearty-chicken-and-middle-casserole.html

We had a busy but great weekend!  Hope to get some pics up soon.  Hope you had a great weekend too!

My Favorite Four Words

Each night, when I lay Avery down she says the same four words: “Daddy, you lay down?”

It melts my heart. In the past, I have nearly always taken her up on the offer. We had an event the other night that has made me and Jaym reconsider that…which breaks my heart that I can’t do something to appease my sweetheart daughters simple request to delay her bed time for some good ole tickling, singing, and prayers.

As for the event – Avery stood at the top of the steps crying for me the other night. She had peed through her diaper and clothes. While changing her diaper I emphasized to her that if she was scared or needed us that she could come downstairs and get us. She took me up on it about 10 times in the next hour unfortunately. Not good. Ever since, she’s been wandering our house like a tourist during bed time and nap time.

Still, those four words melt my heart…

Cookies and Classics

Last week, Avery and I set out to make my Grandma Mary’s chocolate chip cookies.  These cookies are seriously addicting….maybe its the Crisco.  No, seriously.  These have Crisco in them, which apparently makes them awesome.  I wouldn’t advise you to go on a diet of only these.  It won’t end well.

"I wanna do it myself, Mama"

She was an excellent helper, actually.  Helping me dump the ingredients (mostly) into the bowl.  She also insisted on stirring the dough.  And, what’s cookie making without a little taste test?

"Mmm Mmmm Mmmmm De-yicious!"

And, finally, I will leave you with some Classic Avery and Micah pictures:

Avery:

Avery "smiling". We're thinking Toddlers and Tiaras is in her future.

Micah, birth-3 months:

"I hate my life, but I won't tell you why" hahaha.

Micah, 3 months and beyond:

"I love being me."

Here’s my first go at posting meals online.  Thanks for the emails about meal ideas.  I am using 2 new ones this week.  If you have others that you love, please pass them on!  We especially like Mexican and Italian as well as American dishes around here.
